1. Borge Park Complex
The swimming pool and splash pad make Borge Park our favorite place to cool off on a hot summer day in Wolf Point. You’ll also find basketball courts, softball and baseball fields, a playground, and a tennis court. The Borge Park Complex is located at 619-713 Powder River Rd.
2. Wolf Point Museum
Wolf Point Museum is a seasonal attraction open from May through August only, so plan to stop by when it’s too hot to be outside. Managed by the Wolf Point Historical Society, the museum showcases artifacts from the town’s earliest settlers, such as antique printing presses, cash registers, arrowhead collections, and furniture. The collection also highlights paintings by artists from the Wolf Point area.
The museum is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s located at 203 US Highway 2 E. Check the official calendar for fun events like the museum’s annual pancake breakfast.
3. Fort Peck Recreation Area
You can be fishing or boating on Montana’s largest body of water in less than an hour’s drive from Wolf Point. Fort Peck Lake Reservoir is 220 feet deep and 134 miles long, and it’s home to more than 50 fish species, like chinook salmon, small-mouth bass, lake trout, Northern pike, and walleye. Fort Peck Reservation Area provides water access with a boat launch as well as swimming beaches. It also features hiking trails and picnic pavilions.
You’ll find free parking at the Fort Peck Marina and RV Park, located at 15 SW Marina Rd. The lot at the marina is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
4. Poplar Indian Days
On Labor Day Weekend, celebrate the native culture of this region of Montana with a four-day celebration from Thursday, August 31 through Monday, September 3. Enjoy food, music, dancing, crafts, traditional exhibits, and much more. The fun kicks off with a youth powwow and campout on Thursday.
The Indian Days celebration is held at American Legion Park at the end of Popular Pk Rd just off US Rt 2 E. It’s about a 25-minute drive from Wolf Point, so look at the schedule to find your favorite events, or grab your tent and plan to stay for the weekend.
