Getting an oil change is probably the most common routine maintenance task you have to keep up with as a car owner. Most of the time, your CDJR vehicle will require new oil at least twice a year to maintain ideal performance.

Engine oil is a type of lubricant that protects the internal mechanisms of your engine. When your engine oil is old, it can no longer protect your engine from heat or fiction damage and may even start to affect how efficiently your engine burns through fuel. Old engine oil can circulate built-up debris through your engine or sully engine oil filters.
If you fail to keep up with your vehicle’s recommended oil service schedule, you run the risk of damaging your engine. This is why routine motor oil top-ups are recommended as part of your preventative maintenance routine, along with changing air filters, replacing spark plugs, checking tire air pressure, and rotating your tires.

Low Engine Oil

While motor oil deterioration is a major reason why your engine oil should be changed at least every six months or so, low engine oil is another concern. Like many other lubricants and fluids in your vehicle, your engine oil will change over time as your engine burns this chemical as part of the natural combustion process.
Low engine oil can also sometimes be caused by a leak in your engine, which can indicate a problem with the condition of your engine. Many engine oil leaks stem from seals, gaskets, or the oil pan. Low engine oil can sometimes also be caused by using the wrong oil for your engine.

What Type of Oil Is Best for Your CDJR Vehicle?

In general, your vehicle’s owner’s manual will have a recommendation for the best type of motor oil for your engine. Today’s vehicles typically run on synthetic oil since this type of motor oil is formulated to last longer and provide better protection to your engine. However, some Jeep or RAM vehicles might have engines that do better with semisynthetic or conventional motor oil, particularly if you own an older model.
Routinely replacing the motor oil in your engine is the best way to protect the ongoing condition of your vehicle. An oil service appointment should be scheduled at least twice a year for most drivers. Book oil service at Northern Prairie Auto Sales in Wolf Point, MT.
