Whether you need a pickup truck for light-duty jobs or to tow the heaviest trailers at the work site, there is a Ram 1500, 2500, or 3500 configuration that is just right for the task. The Ram towing capacity ranges from 8,110 lbs to an outstanding 37,090 lbs, depending on your choice of truck and powertrain.
Ram 1500
For light-duty tasks, such as towing a boat during the weekend or providing roadside assistance to smaller vehicles, the lineup features the Ram 1500. The 2025 iteration of the pickup truck tows 8,110 lbs and hauls 2,370 lbs with its base 3.6L Pentastar V6, which produces 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque.
When equipped with the 3.0L Hurricane engine, which produces 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque, the truck’s maximum towing capacity reaches 11,500 lbs. A high-output 3.0L Hurricane is also available, producing 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque. However, this engine is tuned for off-roading and performance driving instead of work, offering a limited towing capacity of 9,920 lbs.
Ram 2500
Heavy-duty tasks, such as towing a large travel trailer or small farm equipment, are best handled by the 2024 Ram 2500. The pickup truck features a standard 6.4L Hemi V8, producing 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to tow 17,730 lbs and haul 4,000 lbs.
A higher towing capacity is available with the 6.7L turbo diesel I6, which produces 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. With the right equipment, the diesel-powered Ram 2500 can tow up to 19,990 lbs.
Ram 3500
The toughest tasks, such as towing commercial vehicles and industrial machinery, require the biggest truck in the lineup: the 2024 Ram 3500. The pickup truck comes equipped with a Hemi V8, similar to the one found in the Ram 2500, giving it a maximum towing capacity of 18,210 lbs and a maximum payload capacity of 7,620 lbs.
The available 6.7L turbo diesel I6 improves the towing capacity to 22,660 lbs. If you need the lineup’s best towing capacity, you can choose the available high-output 6.7L turbo diesel I6, which generates 420 horsepower and a tarmac-tearing 1,075 lb-ft of torque. The Ram 3500 tows an impressive 37,090 lbs when equipped with the high-output diesel engine and necessary equipment.
