Wolf Point, MT is a small, yet beautiful city in the United States. The city is found in the Northeastern part of Montana and is home to various attractions including the Wolf Point Area Museum or the Lewis and Clark Bridge. It is the county seat of Roosevelt County and hosts the annual Wild Horse Stampede. 1. Fort Union Trading Post

The Fort Union Trading Post is only about an hour and a half from Wolf Point and offers visitors a fun and fascinating day. The location was a huge trading post from 1828 to 1867, where tribes traded anything ranging from robes to goods such as beads, guns, blankets, etc. Today, the Fort Union Trading post hosts Indian Art showcases, education about the materials used in the 1800s. It is a fantastic spot to visit for a day trip to learn some history and have fun doing so!

2. Fort Peck Lake

Fort Peck Lake is Montana’s largest body of water, with its length of around 134 miles and a depth of 220 feet and is a great place to visit near Wolf Point. Not only does the lake contain over 50 different kinds of fish, but it is a fantastic place to view other types of wildlife. With over one million acres of public land, visitors are offered options including fishing, camping, or birdwatching

3. Fort Peck Dam

The construction of the Fort Peck Dam began around 1933 and finished in 1940. The dam is 3.8 miles long and was built across the Missouri River, creating Fort Peck Lake. Not only is it among the largest dams in the United States, but it also provides hydroelectric power and is a fantastic place to stop on a road trip.

4. Fort Peck Interpretive Center and Museum

Fort Peck offers an array of attractions worth visiting, and the Interpretive Center is no exception. This museum offers insight into the history of Northeast Montana. Its exhibits include dinosaur fossils, displays about the construction of the Fort Peck Dam, and two of the largest aquariums in Montana, full of native fish. One of the highlights of the Interpretive Center and Museum is the life-size model of Peck’s Rex — a Tyrannosaurus Rex discovered near Fort Peck in 1997.

5. Missouri River

The Missouri River is also an excellent place to visit near Wolf Point, MT. The Lewis and Clark Bridge (also known as the Wolf Point Bridge) crosses this river, adjacent to Bridge Park, which provides visitors access to activities ranging from fishing to picnicking along the river. The Missouri River is a popular and beautiful spot that is a must-visit for a day trip.
