What's Included in the Warranty on a New Jeep?

When you purchase a new vehicle from your Jeep dealer, you will get the benefit of a new car warranty. The limited warranty on a new car is typically bundled into the cost of your new vehicle, which means you won't have to pay for the warranty coverage separately. You can make claims under your warranty by contacting your local dealership.

Jeep offers two warranty plans for every new Jeep vehicle. The Basic Limited Warranty plan will last for three years or up to 36,000 miles. This is a limited bumper-to-bumper warranty that will protect you from the cost of vehicle repairs for components that are damaged by manufacturer defects. The major vehicle components covered by this warranty include the transmission and engine.
The Powertrain Limited Warranty plan lasts for five years or up to 60,000 miles. This warranty plan reduces the costs of labor and parts related to powertrain repair. The powertrain of your vehicle includes the components of the engine, transmission, and axle. There is also a corrosion warranty for new Jeeps; sheet metal panels are covered for three years, while outer-body sheet metal panels that have been finished with body paint are covered for five years.

Exclusions

The limited warranty on your new Jeep will not cover the cost of routine maintenance, damage to the vehicle that is caused by aftermarket parts, or damage caused by car accidents. If your vehicle is damaged because of the environment, such as natural disasters, the repair costs are not covered by the limited warranty.
Although the Basic Limited Warranty offers bumper-to-bumper coverage, this new vehicle warranty does not cover repairs for tires or other parts that were not originally part of the vehicle when it left the factory. The Powertrain Limited Warranty will not cover the cost of tune-ups, brake pad replacements, filter replacements, or scheduled lubrication.

Should You Purchase an Extended Car Warranty From Your Jeep Dealer?

While the limited new vehicle warranty for your Jeep will protect your vehicle for the first few years of car ownership, it can be a good idea to take out an extended warranty in the future. When the factory warranty on your Jeep expires, an extended warranty can bridge the gap for your vehicle's coverage for several more years. You will be able to choose a level of extended coverage that works for your needs when you discuss extended warranty plans with your dealership's finance department.
The new vehicle warranty on your Jeep can shield you from repair costs associated with manufacturer defects on covered vehicle components. After your new vehicle warranty ends, you can speak with your dealership about extending your warranty protection. Call Northern Prairie Auto Sales to discuss the details of your new vehicle warranty today.

Off-Roading in a Jeep: The Ultimate Adventure Awaits

When it comes to off-roading, few vehicles are as iconic as the Jeep. Whether you're exploring rugged trails, tackling steep inclines, or navigating through muddy waters, Jeep vehicles are built to take you where others can't go. At Northern Prairie Auto Sales in Wolf Point, MT, we understand the appeal of off-roading and the unmatched capability that Jeep offers. In this blog, we will explore why Jeeps are the perfect off-road vehicles and how you can make the most out of your off-roading adventures. Why Choose a Jeep for Off-Roading? Jeep vehicles have a long-standing reputation for being the go-to choice for off-roading enthusiasts. From the Jeep Wrangler to the Jeep Gladiator, each model is engineered with a combination of power, durability, and advanced off-road technology. Let’s break down what makes Jeep such an excellent option for off-road adventures. more 1. Exceptional Ground Clearance and Suspension One of the most critical factors when tackling tough trails is ground clearance. Jeep vehicles are designed with impressive ground clearance to ensure that you can clear rocks, debris, and uneven terrain without damaging the undercarriage. Long-Travel Suspension: Jeep vehicles are equipped with advanced suspension systems, such as the Jeep Wrangler’s solid axles, which help absorb shocks and keep the wheels in constant contact with the ground, enhancing traction and stability. Improved Wheel Travel: The increased wheel travel found in Jeep models allows the wheels to move independently of the vehicle body, maintaining better control and comfort during off-road conditions. These features help Jeep vehicles handle even the most challenging terrain with ease, whether you’re crawling over rocks or navigating through dense forests. 2. 4x4 Systems and Locking Differentials A 4x4 drivetrain is crucial for off-road vehicles, and Jeep takes this system to the next level with its advanced options. Jeep’s Command-Trac 4x4 system provides incredible off-road capability by sending power to all four wheels, ensuring you maintain traction on loose or slippery surfaces. Rock-Trac 4x4 System: Available in the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, this system is equipped with a low-range gearing option, perfect for steep inclines or crawling over obstacles. Locking Differentials: The Jeep Rubicon comes with electronic locking differentials, allowing you to lock both the front and rear axles to ensure equal power distribution across all wheels. This is particularly useful when you're in low-traction conditions like mud, snow, or sand. These features give Jeep vehicles unmatched ability to tackle difficult off-road obstacles, providing stability and control on even the toughest trails. 3. Durability and Toughness Off-roading can put significant wear and tear on a vehicle, so durability is key. Jeep vehicles are built to withstand these challenges with rugged components designed to handle the demands of tough terrain. Features like reinforced steel skid plates, heavy-duty axles, and durable body construction ensure that your Jeep can handle the impact of rough trails. Skid Plates: Underbody protection is a must when off-roading, and Jeeps come equipped with skid plates to safeguard critical components like the oil pan, transfer case, and gas tank. Heavy-Duty Axles and Components: The Jeep Gladiator, for example, features heavy-duty axles that can endure significant stress, making it ideal for hauling and towing in off-road conditions. This rugged construction means you don’t have to worry about taking your Jeep through challenging environments—it’s built to last and perform. Off-Roading Tips for Jeep Owners Now that you know why Jeep vehicles are perfect for off-roading, let’s dive into a few essential tips to help you make the most of your off-road adventures. 1. Know Your Terrain Before heading out on your off-road adventure, it’s important to understand the terrain you’ll be navigating. Whether you’re facing sandy dunes, rocky cliffs, or snow-covered trails, knowing what to expect will help you prepare your vehicle and plan your route. Off-Road Maps and Trail Apps: Use trail apps and maps to get familiar with off-road trails in your area. Apps like AllTrails and OnX Offroad can help you discover new trails and ensure you're following the safest routes. Trail Etiquette: Respect trail rules and be mindful of other off-road enthusiasts. Always stay on designated trails to avoid damaging the environment and preserve the natural beauty of the area. 2. Engage 4x4 and Locking Differentials When you’re off-roading, it's crucial to engage your 4x4 system early to ensure you have maximum traction. Waiting until you’re stuck can lead to more difficult situations. Engage 4x4 in Advance: When you approach slippery or uneven terrain, engage the 4x4 system beforehand. This will help you stay in control and avoid getting stuck in the mud or sand. Lock the Differentials: If you're facing tricky obstacles, consider engaging the locking differentials. This will help you keep power going to all wheels, allowing your Jeep to crawl over tough obstacles like rocks or logs. 3. Deflate Your Tires for Better Traction When driving on soft terrain like sand or mud, it’s often helpful to lower your tire pressure slightly. Deflating your tires gives them a larger contact patch, providing better traction on loose surfaces. However, be sure not to deflate too much, as it can cause damage or lead to tire loss. Adjust Tire Pressure for Terrain: For softer trails, reduce your tire pressure to around 15-20 PSI. For harder trails, you can leave your tires at normal pressure. 4. Pack the Essentials When you head off the beaten path, it's important to be prepared for unexpected challenges. Here’s a quick checklist of essential items to take with you: Recovery Gear: Bring along a tow strap, winch, and a shovel to assist with recovery if you get stuck. First Aid Kit: Always have a first aid kit in case of minor injuries during your off-road adventure. Tool Kit: A basic tool kit with wrenches, pliers, and screwdrivers can be incredibly useful in case of vehicle issues. Food and Water: Pack enough water, snacks, and a portable battery charger to stay hydrated and energized. 5. Take It Slow While your Jeep Wrangler or Gladiator is built for tough trails, it’s important to go at a pace that’s comfortable for you and your vehicle. Off-roading is about enjoying the adventure, not rushing through it. Ease Into Difficult Obstacles: Approach obstacles like rocks, logs, or steep inclines slowly and steadily. Don’t rush, as this can lead to vehicle damage or getting stuck. Use Spotters: When navigating difficult sections, it’s helpful to have a spotter to guide you through tricky areas. Jeep Off-Roading: The Adventure Begins With their legendary off-road capabilities, Jeep vehicles are a perfect choice for anyone looking to explore the great outdoors and enjoy the thrill of off-roading.
