2022 Dodge Charger
The Dodge Charger is one of the most powerful sedans you can get. This iconic muscle car is made to turn heads and does it in the best way possible, with style and performance. For the 2022 model year, the Charger gains a new Jailbreak package with even more power and a Hemi Orange appearance package. An SRT Black package also joins the lineup for 2022.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Charger SXT comes with 17-inch wheels, while a step up to the GT adds heated side exterior mirrors, a sport-tuned suspension, and 20-inch wheels. Choosing the R/T adds an active exhaust and unique 20-inch wheels, while the Scat Pack has high-performance brakes, specially designed 20-inch wheels, and a limited-slip differential. The SRT Hellcat comes as the Widebody, Redeye, or Jailbreak. These all have flared fenders, an adaptive suspension, ultra-high performance brakes, and high-performance tires.
Additional exterior features are available as options. Depending on the package, you can get HID headlights, a rear spoiler, fender flares, and Brembo brakes.
Engine (Power)
Dodge offers the Charger with five different engines. The base is a 3.6-liter V-6 with 292 horsepower. For more power, you can bump up to the R/T, which has a 5.7-liter V-8 that puts out 370 horsepower. Another bump to the Scat Pack gets you a 6.4-liter V-8 that generates 392 horsepower, or you can choose the SRT Hellcat with its supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 with 717 horsepower. The Redeye uses the supercharged engine and pumps out 797 horsepower. However, the Jailbreak gets 807 horsepower with the same engine.
Performance
The driving experience in the Charger depends on which engine you have under the hood. Any of the powertrains provide lots of power, but if you want it for everyday driving, the base or R/T has more than enough. If you have the SRT Hellcat Redeye, you can expect to go from a stop to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 203 mph.
Interior
There's room for up to five in the large Charger, and the cabin has a retro look with sleek and simple lines. It comes standard with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Scat Pack adds more aggressive sport front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats, and the Hellcat Widebody has driver's seat memory settings and a leather-trimmed interior.
The technology in the Charger starts with a 7-inch touch screen and an infotainment system that works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The GT upgrades to an 8.4-inch touch screen and also upgrades the stereo. The available Navigation and Travel Group adds integrated navigation.
Safety Features
All the Charger trims come with a rearview camera, electronic traction and stability control, and hill start assist. The optional Driver's Convenience Group comes with advanced safety aids such as a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-path detection, and the Technology Group adds forward collision warning, automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam headlights, and lane-departure warning.
